AgCentric participates in Urban Ag Day

May 8th and 9th more than 1,400 third graders in the Minneapolis and St. Paul public school district will experience Urban Ag Day at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The goal of the event is to teach the students where their food comes from. Many of the students have never and will never step foot on an active farm, so area farmers came together to bring animals, farm equipment and products to the city for the kids to see, touch and learn about. Minnesota commodity groups and local FFA chapters helped organize the day and will serve as guides over the next two days to show the kids how their food gets from field to fork. The students will have the opportunity to ask farmers questions and see animals up close.
“The Minnesota State Fair is proud to work with Minnesota FFA and other key agricultural organizations for the third year in a row to provide a unique experience to help metro-area third-graders connect food and the farm,” said Michelle Butler, education manager with the Minnesota State Fair.
