inTENse Career Exploration

The inTENse conference takes high school students on the road and exposes them to agricultural college and career opportunities within Minnesota. Students learn about college admissions and a variety of career options through hands-on experiences. The goal is that every participant will clearly understand that no matter what sort of career they envision for themselves they can do it in agriculture – and that we need them to do it in Minnesota agriculture.

The camp runs from July 17 to 21st. Cost of $175 covers travel from UMN to UMN, four nights of shared lodging (3 dorms, 1 hotel), at least one conference tee and all meals from lunch on Monday until lunch on Friday. The conference is subsidized in 2017 with funding from a MAELC grant. (Participants will need to travel with a towel, pillow and sleeping bag for nights in campus dorm rooms.) – Tentative tours and experience rotations include veterinary technicians, farm tours, drone use, agronomy, food science and other experiences in AFNR pathways.
